Tapioca Fry | Maravalli Kizhangu poriyal - This is a very simple and tasty dish prepared with tapioca, simple seasoning ingredients and flecked with coconut. Serve it with rice.

Cooking time : 20 - 25 minutes
Serves : 4
Ingredients for tapioca poriyal
- 2 medium sized tapioca
- 1 medium sized onion , finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp. of mustard seed
- 1/2 tsp. of urad dal
- A sprig of curry leaves
- 2 tsp. of sambar powder
- 2 tbsp. of grated coconut
Wash the tapioca well, trim the ends , chop them roughly and steam cook until soft. When it is cooked well remove from heat and allow it to cool.
Peel the skin from it and chop them into medium sized chunks.
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, when it stops spluttering add urad dal and curry leaves. Fry them for a minute.Add the onions and fry until it becomes translucent.
Now add the tapioca chunks and tip in the sambar powder along with salt. Mix them well.
Cook for about 10 mins. Finally add the grated coconut, stir it gently and remove from heat.
Simple and tasty tapioca stir fry is ready to be served.
