BITTER GOURD CURRY WITH ONIONS AND TOMATOES





Bitter gourd -  Bitter gourd ,as the name suggests,has a very distinct and  acquired taste that can be either loved or loathed and regardless of its taste it is definitely loaded with amazing health benefits. 

Today I am going to share my way of preparing a fry with this bitter gourd and let's get started

First step - Wash and thinly chop the bitter gourd , slice the onions and tomatoes .


Second step - Heat oil in a pan , add the sliced bitter gourd and fry them well or until they turn slightly brown in colour. Remove from heat and keep it aside.

Third step - In the same pan, heat oil , add mustard seeds, when it stops spluttering add urad dal and curry leaves. Fry for a minute.

Fourth step - Add the onions and fry until they turn translucent. 

Fifth step - Add the tomatoes along with sambar powder along with salt. Mix it well . Cover and cook for few minutes.

Sixth step - Finally add the bitter gourd. Stir it gently. Cover and cook. When the bitter gourd gets well combined with the onions and tomatoes . Remove from heat.
Bitter gourd with onions and tomatoes is ready to be served.

Bitter gourd curry

Ingredients

  • 2 medium sized bitter gourd , sliced thinly
  • 2 medium sliced onions, sliced
  • 2 medium sliced tomatoes, choped
  • 2 tbsp . of sambar powder
  • Salt – As needed
  • Oil

To temper

  • 1 tsp. of mustard seed
  • 1/2 tsp. of urad dal
  • Curry leaves 

Method

  1. Heat oil in a pan , add the sliced bitter gourd and fry them well or until they turn slightly brown in colour. Remove from heat and keep it aside.
  2. In the same pan, heat oil , add mustard seeds, when it stops spluttering add urad dal and curry leaves. Fry for a minute.
  3. Add the onions and fry until they turn translucent.  Add the tomatoes along with sambar powder and salt. Mix it well . Cover and cook for few minutes.
  4. Finally add the bitter gourd . Stir it gently. Cover and cook. When the bitter gourd gets well combined with the onions and tomatoes . Remove from heat.
  5. Bitter gourd with onions and tomatoes is ready to be served.

Notes

  • Frying the bitter gourd ,will taste well along with onions and tomatoes.
  • Don't decrease the onions and tomatoes as it is very important for this recipe.
