Semiya | Vermicelli Upma
This is my favorite breakfast dish as it is very easy and quick to prepare.
I usually prepare semiya as we normally do, I want to change my normal style and added bay leaf , turmeric powder and to my surprise it turned out very well .S0 here comes the recipe.
1 cup of semiya
1 big sized Onion
1 big sized tomato
2 green chillies
½ tsp. of turmeric powder
1 tsp. of Ghee
Oil as needed
Salt to taste
For Seasoning
1 tsp. of cumin seeds
1 tsp. of urad dhal
2 nos. of Bay leaf
2 nos. of Bay leaf
A bunch of curry leaves.
Preparation
Roast the semiya gently with a tsp. of Ghee and keep it aside.
Heat oil in a pan. Add the cumin seeds. When they stop spluttering add the urad dhal , curry leaves and bay leaf.
Add the green chillies and chopped onions sauté it for 2-3 mins.
Add the tomatoes, along with turmeric powder.
Add 1 cup of water and allow it to boil.
Now add the semiya and salt. Cover and cook in a low flame until the semiya is cooked well and the water gets completely evaporated.
OPTIONAL: We can add vegetables like carrot, beans, potato and peas - to make a complete nutritional recipe for kids
