ARAI KEERAI MASIYAL

KEERAI MASIYAL -  Hello Friends, In today's post I am happy to share yet another recipe with greens (or) Keerai. As we all know the health benefits of including keerai in our diet I  am here with a simple recipe with it.

Keerai Masiyal  (or) keerai kadayal - There are so many ways in preparing masiyal and also it can be prepared with different types of keerai like siru keerai, mulai keerai, arai keerai, and pasalai keeria. But today I am with a masiyal done with arai keerai.

I have not used dal or tamarind in this recipe. So just with onion, tomato, green chilli, and along with this keerai this delicious recipe is made. Serve it with steamed rice and enjoy.

So let's get started

First step: Pluck the fresh leaves, if the stems are tender you can make use of them and discard the roots alone. Wash the keerai well in water.

Second step: Take a saucepan, add little water, when it starts boiling, add onion, green chilly, and tomato. Allow them to cook for few minutes.

Third step: Now add the keerai and cook until they are done or until the leaves get shrunken. (it takes around 10 - 15 minutes).

Fourth Step: Remove from flame, strain excess water. Don't waste the water as it can be taken as soup. Just add a pinch of salt and drink it.

Fifth Step: Now when the cooked keerai along with onion, tomato, and green chilly reaches room temperature, transfer to a blender, add a little salt and make a fine paste with it.

Sixth Step: Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seed when it starts spluttering add urad dal along with red chillies, saute for a minute and pour on top of the keerai masiyal .

Keerai Masiyal is ready to be served.
